Around the World with Roger Federer
Around the World with Roger Federer is a global event series by GCL New York that celebrates the intersection of art, tennis, culture, and philanthropy, connecting communities worldwide. In partnership with Roger and his company Team8, we created an inspiring, accessible event for young talent. Part of the UNIQLO Next Generation Development Program, this series brings Federer to cities worldwide, where he hosts festival-style launches and coaching sessions, giving young athletes a rare chance to learn from one of tennis’s greatest champions.

The Around the World with Roger Federer series launched on a perfect summer day in New York City. At MoMA PS1 in Queens, a tennis court featuring New York artist KAWS’s vibrant artwork set the scene as Roger coached young players from the Kings County Tennis League. With energy high and spirits lifted with music by DJ Stretch Armstrong, Federer guided the kids through tennis fundamentals—from the serve toss to the slice backhand. It was a day of inspiration, fun, and unforgettable moments with one of the game’s greatest.

Shanghai- October 18, 2023
Roger Federer returned to Shanghai, a city that holds a special place in his heart. This time, it was about connecting with fans and young players rather than competing for a trophy. At the historic Tian Hou Palace, Roger shared his wisdom and stories while hitting groundstrokes with the next generation. Talented juniors from Juss Sports received personalized coaching, with help from Chinese tennis star Wu Di. The court, designed by artist Cheng Peng, captured Shanghai's vibrant energy, creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable day of tennis, camaraderie, and passion.

La Courneuve/Paris - May 22, 2024
On a sunny spring day, Roger Federer visited La Courneuve, a neighborhood just outside Paris, to inaugurate a newly renovated tennis court donated by UNIQLO. After the rain cleared, Roger led informal training sessions with local young players, sharing his expertise and enthusiasm with the inspired athletes. His presence lit up the day, bringing smiles to everyone in attendance. The court, designed by artist Caroline Derveaux, features bold artwork symbolizing La Courneuve’s spirit, with the number 93 representing the district code. It’s a lasting gift to the community, offering a place for families to gather and enjoy tennis for years to come.
